GTX-45R not recognised by G3X

rsharples

I'm New Here
Has anyone encountered issues with their GTX-45R not being visible to the G3X (at initial set up).
XPDR is showing with Red Cross on the G3X system Information page. I’ve checked power supply as well as all pins to the transponder and GSU 25. RS-232 Port 2 is configured to Connext 57600 baud. Appreciate advice on where to check next.

Power Control/Power Config

My first suggestion is to have you look at the Power Control (Pin 38) and Power Configuration (pin 59) on the P3251 connector at the transponder. These are easily missed when wiring. These pins must be grounded when you have a remote mounted transponder, if they are not the transponder will not "Auto on" with power applied.

If you navigate to the Transponder page in configuration mode, what is listed for the status in the bottom left hand corner?

Thanks,

Justin

Thanks Justin and others for your feedback. By updating GTX and GDU software, the GDU was able to see the GTX but with configuration errors (previously it was not visible at all). It was then a simple case of inputting the configuration to clear the error messages.

I'm having the same issue now. chasing wires and making sure it's all connected properly. G3X, GTN, GSU, GTX45R. My GDU config page shows the transponder no data. red x.

the gtn in config mode shows LRU GTX Online, HSDB receiving, but in normal mode Red X. I have the RS-232 ports on the GTX set up 1-4 as GSU, PFD1, MFD, PFD2. set up the resective G3X ports as Connext 57600. on the GDU transponder config page I have the GTX45R selected, HSDB GTN, and all of the data filled in.

Anyhow, I'm at a loss as for now with the RED X's over the transponder boxes on both the GTN and the G3x. Will keep working on it. I do have an antenna connected to a 4ft wire though the antenna isn't grounded to airframe yet.

Edit to include- unit powers up per the info above, it updated to the latest software via usb connection to the laptop.

Second edit- chasing wires and I think I have my rs232 tx rx reversed on one end. I’ll check in the morning and update results.

Edit 3- more detail. I had the rs232 pins reversed at the gsu connection. I now have transponder control from the gdus. No more red x. But on the gtn I do have the red x and a message “transponder 1 is inoperative or connection to GTN is lost.”

Hsdb port status shows connected receiving in green, and LRU page shows GTX#1 online in green. I’m guessing config issues now. I’ll keep plugging away and updating for folks who visit this in the future.
