RV8 canopy gap?

Now this is a 20yr RV8. Over the years open/ close the right side has a 1/2 gap. Now the latch being on the left side has far more torsion on it so it's not surprising. I try to push on both sides when I close it. But 1/2 to 1/4 gap still there.
Anyone have suggestions.

The screws implies the glass for the windshield fairing comes off. Is this correct?

I was not the builder. But perhaps. I believe that just over time open and closing canopy has put more tension on one side vs the other. I have noticed on other RV8 builders install or weld in another canopy grab handle on opposite side of canopy. In my case, probably no longer helpful.

Is there play in the slider block at the rear that allows it to get crooked?
