I've been around for a while, but somehow I missed this thread. What a great idea!
Name: Bruce Swayze
Country: USA
City: Portland, Oregon
Flying [nothing yet]
Configuration: RV-7A / Tipup Canopy
Engine: Lyc O-360
Prop: Will probably be a Catto 3-blade
I'm into this 6 years on my project so far, and I love every minute of it. I'm slower than many builders, but faster than some others. Not that any of that matters. My goal from the beginning was to build this project debt-free. So far, I own everything free and clear, and I hope to finish it up that way. But it does take a bit longer.
Here's where I'm at currently... we just finished installing my engine recently, and I'm moving forward on some firewall forward items, but also planning out my panel (Advanced Flight Systems!) and looking forward to getting into wiring and the final phases of the build. I have documented much of my work on my web site that a lot of you are familiar with, here: http://www.BrucesRV7A.com
I should mention that I'm not a licensed pilot yet. I'm a bit unusual in that I chose to build the airplane first. But I'm very happy with my decision! I hope to start flying this spring, as I finish up the last phases of the project.
I'm fortunate to live about 25 minutes from Vans, so it has been easy and really great to just go over there when I need something, and to pick up my various kits and all. If anyone is visiting Vans, I would welcome a visit to my shop as well. I'd like to meet you, swap ideas, you can look over my work and ask questions. Let me know!
