Update guess I goofed
I brought the lab thermocouple calibrator home to check things out. First I checked the gauge and read within 10 degs of calibrated lab tester. Next setup the oil pot up and heated to 400. Reading was within 15 deg of lab tester. (This is all after reprogramming the CHT Gauge) Looks like goofed the first time I programed the gauge. All I can say is check your probes. I was also suprised how acurate the $5 candy thermometer was.
I will let you know how it works out when I fly next time.
