Headset Wire Insulation

Is there any way to fix this crack in wire insulation? The headset was refurbished two years ago by the factory and works great.

#1 - Can you disassemble the mic/ear piece next to the wires & "pull" the cable 1" or so into the headset thus protecting the damaged area - depends on how the strain relief functions (friction or clamping). The extra 1" would be inside assembly protected and no disconnecting/reconnecting need take place.
or
#2 wrap area in Rescue tape - is flexible but will be visible.
Good luck.

Silicone rescue tape will take care of that until you get tired of the way it looks and buy a replacement. But then again…you’replane is still unpainted, so the silicone rescue tape will work and last probably for the rest of your life! ;)

Since it looks like the wires themselves are intact, I like to cover the wires with a dab of clear silicone then wrap with a neatly trimmed wrap of black rescue tape. Rescue Tape really does work.

Some heat shrink that is big enough to go over the plug will shrink to the size of the wire. It's just a matter of finding the correct type. You could fit it all the way up to cover the strain relief and the wire.
