RV-8 C-GEMQ took to the skies for the first time !!!
Flew beautifully for 40 minutes.
1/4 to 1/2 ball on the right to correct and maybe a little heavy right wing, to confirm with further tests.
25MP/2500RPM at 3000 ft/-5C resulted in 162KTAS, no wheel pants, no wing to fuselage fairings.
Despite a complete engine run check, the engine burped/pulsed +/- 100 RPM a few seconds after take-off.
Too lean mixture (my fault), once corrected the engine ran very smoothly.
CHT's in the 350's except #3 of course at 380ish. Considering modifying the rear baffle or adding washers.
Tested the flight behavior with flaps, test stalled twice before landing, all ok.
The landing was uneventful.
What a machine !!!
The RV grin is for real !!!
