anyone using the Tempest oil filter?

Aircraft spruce has the tempest oil filter. Some of the reviews complain about fit because it's a little longer, possibly due to the safety wire tabs. Just wondering if anyone is using them on their RV12is and if they had any problems with fit? TIA

I haven't used Tempest, but I did switch to the Challenger re-cleanable filter and haven't had any issues with it. Its expensive, but after 625 hours now, I'm already in the green. I like the fact that I can use safety wire on it (vs. the official Rotax filter).

I have 1300 hours on stock Rotax filters, change every 50 hours. No safety wire, never had a loose one. Has there been a problem with them coming loose?

Safety wire is not required. But if you prefer, put a large worm-gear clamp on the filter and safety wire to the head of the bolt.

Lockwood sells a metal oil filter wrench for the Rotax filters that they designed and had fabricated. It is pretty sweet.
