I bought the ACS DOOR AND BAGGAGE LOCK SETS Part# 11-01600 from Acft Spruce (ACS) but it comes with only one key. Looking through this thread and others, the cost for ACS to cut a duplicate key used to be around $10 in 2022, but now it's $23.95. That just seems like an unreasonable price to me considering that similar key blanks cost under a dollar.
I'm happy to support ACS and appreciate the breadth of products they offer, but I hate feeling like I'm getting taken advantage of.
I've looked around for a blank key with MFR P/N A-3551-A with no luck. Seems like ACS has tied this one up. I could have bought an equivalent cam-lock / cabinet lock on Amazon for half the price ACS charged but, like I said, I like supporting them when they're not taking advantage and went with them. When I spoke with ACS Sales about the key he quipped, "Everything that's for 'AIRCRAFT' costs more", which feeds the narrative of getting taken advantage of. I use aircraft-grade parts and hardware throughout but if I wanted to get gouged I'd be flying a certified plane. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.
Has anyone had any luck finding a blank key for the ACS Door Locks?
