Blue ridge mountain stop over spots? Open to tips.

Heading south from Canada (near detroit) to the bahamas. Looking for a good stop in the blue mountains roughly near Kingsport/Asheville/Greenville Spartanburg path that has a decent hotel/price and makes for a fun stop over night. Pretty spot, good food, nice little airport, good scenery etc. Anyone have some good tips?

Mountainaire north of Asheville-highest U.S. airport east of the Mississippi-go to their web site and try to reserve a cabin. Stay an extra day and play a round of golf on their beautiful course or just lounge around the pool at the club house.
Enjoy

Wow, just looked that up. Beautiful spot. Not sure they would do a one night stop in for 5 of us common folks but will have a look. Pretty sweet
