With the c/s prop and the big flaps, there is no problem getting the RV-10 to slow down/come down. Speed brakes would be -- at least in my opinion -- an unneccessary complication.

I agree that speed brakes are a waste of time, unless you plan on going with a fixed pitch prop. With my RV-6A and a CSP I could come into the downwind leg at 180 MPH and still make a step tight base to final.
