Which oil drain port to use?

RV-7 with IO-360-M1B. Engine has two locations (left or right when looking forward) to drain the oil. I'm putting in a quick drain adapter and want to know if there is a preferred side and if so, why. The firewall forward installation will be mainly to the plans except for a vetterman 4 pipe exhaust.

I think one of them has the oil screen. Not sure you can move this around.

No, the oil screen is under the one with the 5/8 hex head and safety wire and goes in Horizontal.. the oil drain port is vertical, 1/2 inch NPT, and either would work.

If you're going to use an Anti-Splat heater, use the right side (looking from the pilots seat). It will allow you to route the power cable to the oil door. Not enough cable from the other side.

Get all your FWF stuff done and use the one that has the best access or path for the hose you will use for the quick drain.
