Fiberglass Spinner/Back plate..

Tram

Well Known Member
Lots of experience here, so I thought I’d ask… Non-RV project at the moment though..

Added a new prop and the spacing on nut plates on the current spinner backplate isn’t going to work out for the new prop. I already have a new front dome I can use that will mate to the backplate.

So, I’m considering removing the nut plates, filling the old holes, adding new nut plates and balancing the back plate.

Am I nuts? Maybe I should just order a new spinner, but I’m going to be doing most of this to the new spinner as well..

Some prop manufacturers recommend against using composite spinner bulkheads ... Catto comes to mind.

That might make your decision easier.

Cheers

I'd recommend a new backing plate instead of relocating nutplates and filling holes.

Composite backing plates are fine in my experience. Mine is carbon fibre from Whirlwind.

Maybe your chance to install a chrome spinner as per this video?
