FAB Carb heat hinge

Here is the first maintenance issue.

As I write this, my RV-6 has been flying 8 years with 1,776 flying hours.

Engine is NARROW DECK O-320 B2B field converted to Constant Speed operation.
The engine has the carb mounted as far aft on the sump as Lycoming can place it so this engine would not be suitable in one of the -A model RVs.

The FAB fiberglass box is not needed to be cut when installed on this engine.

The aluminum hinge wears out on this set up around 300 hundred hours. The replacement also wears out so was replace the 3rd time with STAINLESS STEEL HINGE. When the stainless steel was installed, so were screws and nuts to make changing it easier.

The Stainless steel lasts longer but it also wears out. Both the pin and the hinge and has been replaced once. I estimate that I got just short of 1,000 hours on the stainless steel hinge.

Just pointing out that this is a wear area and needs to be inspected / replaced at the once a year "Condition Inspection".
