5/21/06 - We had a fun time! (81) RVs were counted. Alex DeDominicis brought his
24hrs-out-of-the-paint-shop RV-10
Transition Trainer (0-8). Note the air conditioning scoop (8) and bench
back seat (5). Martin and Claudia Sutter brought their BEAUTIFUL RV-7A,
complete with one of Luke's Classic Aero Designs interiors and a panel that is
beyond art (9-10). Don Crum demonstrated his new RV jack system (18-22).
His email is (dcsr at texasairnet.com and they are $129). I loved Rick
Freeman's simple and effective tail wheel chock (27). Stu and the gang
showed up for some nice formation passes (32-35). That's Jay Pratt and
Rick Freeman in (36). Rich Rudolph (37). Andy Duff's RV-4 cockpit
(38-39). Clay and Don doing the essentials in (46) and yours truly flying Alex's RV-10 from the left seat (52) - image taken by Alex.
My first time piloting a RV-10! It felt kinda like flying my RV-6...only
in syrup. Heavier stick forces and slower responsiveness in all axis than
I'm used to, but it felt somewhat familiar and was a creampuff in both the
takeoff and landing phases. He has one of AFS's
AOA
indicators in the panel (so do I), so I think that attributed to my
easier-than-expected landing. I suspect all building a RV-10 will be
pleasantly surprised. Thanks to everyone that came out and to all who
helped organize and pull off the day. See you next year!!!
