After a business trip to Sao Paulo last week, I spent the weekend in Rio. After contemplating paying $110 for a first time hang gliding experience, I remembered the VAF white pages and went online to look for an RV driver in Rio to contact about a possible ride. Unfortunately, it didn't look like anyone on the Brazil list was local, so I gave up that idea...

Then the hanggliding launch site was shrouded in clouds all day, so flying wasn't in the cards for this trip...

But at about 3:30pm on Sunday, while reading AOPA Pilot on the beach under an umbrella, I looked up to see what I'm pretty sure was an RV6 or 7 flying over at about 1500 feet, perpendicular to the beach, moving way faster than the Cessnas pulling banners. As beautiful as the views are on the beach, I would have loved to be in the right seat of that RV. Beleza!

Anyone know who that might have been?

Ciao!
