I love how the prop governor is essentially a ball governor. Simple, mechanical, 1800's steam engine technology. The source of the slang phrase "Running balls out!" And still the most efficient reliable way to do it. I worked on a 1940's era power plant in the early 2000's that still had ball governors controlling the turbines. And I know the electronic system that replaced them has not been as reliable.
