I wanted an easy way to raise any wheel, and still have a fairly light overall weight jack System. I bought the car scissor jack at a local auto salvage yard for $10. I wire-welded a 1" steel tube on top. I drilled a 1" hole half way thru a 1 1/2' 2 X 4, and power stapled carpet on it to protect the paint. It will lower enough if you have a flat, and raise enough to get a wheel off easliy, about 4".
