Thumbs up Petit Jean 2019 — WEATHER OPTIONS

It looks like Thursday is great and Saturday Sunday will be great but chance of rain on Friday. Rain usually scattered this time of year but for those that want to come in a day early on Thursday for the pre-party party! No worries...... WE HAVE A PLAN to cover you!

We are expecting 20 - 30 airplanes in on Thursday, which guarantees us a good time on the ramp. Most of those booked the available rooms on the Mountain so no problem if you are already confirmed.

If we don’t have you a room on the Mountain, KBDQ Morrilton is 22 minutes away, NorthEast by car in the river valley with a RNAV non-precision approach! We have several 15 passenger vans for transport. All rooms on the Mountain are full for now but we have a great option with several hotels in Morrilton!

Soooo..... fly in Thursday and we’ll give a group one of the vans and after a great dinner at Mather you can just truck on down. Have Friday breakfast at the on site Waffle Inn Friday morning and leisurely 22 min drive back up the mountain! Room rate is $70 prox Kings and doubles !

BOTTOM LINE ..... if you fly into KMPJ on Thursday, we have room and food options covered if you’re not camping! Come on! Just give me/us a heads up by email or cell and come on! We have you covered and the pre-party party is getting bigger every day!

If you are coming in Friday and the Mountain is low ceiling but Morrilton KBDQ or Russellville is open/accessible .... we will come get you and fly you back for your airplane Saturday morning! KRUE IS about 15 miles Northwest (45 min) by car and does have car rentals. KBDQ Morrilton is 15 miles NorthEast (22 min by car). Morrilton is slightly preferred because of cheap fuel and closer proximity for us to facilitate pickup! No car rentals in Morrilton but you shouldn’t need one.

CAMPERS .... the sun is going to shine for sure but remember if it sprinkles a little ...remember we have a 40 x 60 big top tent so plenty of dry gathering areas. Dry fire spaces to gather around as well! It’s always good on the RV Mountain!

Post here if you’re coming Thursday or email or both

Default First time RV camping

Been weighing stuff and determining best place to secure in 6A. Surprised to see just how little it all adds up to be. Packed a bottle of vegetable juice <wink wink) too ! Leaving at sun up Thursday, ready to pitch in and work as needed. Built a set of EAA tie downs this week to keep all safe. Excited to go and make this an annual event ! Cheers yall !!

Thursday.... HOPEFULLY.... for me. As I write this my number two cylinder is off and at the overhaul shop. When I dropped it off at noon today I informed the owner that I do understand the concept of lines but..... I had a very important event to attend and had hopes of leaving Thursday. He said he'd see what he could do. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Default Update.

We have 4-5 rooms available at the RCC for Friday / Saturday. Pretty good chance of rain Friday but there are always windows for arrivals. Expecting 25-30 airplanes Thursday. We have about 115 registered with about 6 cancellations.

We have good options for rooms Thursday night if you come in early and aren’t camping. See top of post for details.

It’s always good on the Mountain!

Just got some good news! My cylinder will be ready in an hour. Thankfully there’s a full service engine shop 15 minutes from my hanger.

Looks funny in the hanger. All packed and ready to go with the cowling off tools on towels cover the left wing and the number two cylinder missing.

PS does anyone know if fuel will be available this year at Petit Jean?

Default Fuel

I think Bill said in an earlier post that fuel was NOT available this year.

Default Petit Jean Field Conditions

Can anyone post what the field conditions are like at Petit Jean?

My wife and I are thinking about flying the 7 down from Indiana tomorrow.

We will be flying in for lunch.

Any information would be great to know.

Thanks
