Default NEW FAI Time to Climb Record!

Hi All,

I just wanted to share that a few days ago Daniel Gray crushed (by 19 seconds) the FAI Time to Climb to 3000M record in a Harmon Rocket using a 2-Rotor Mazda Rotary engine. With a time of 1 min 40 sec.

Older records here.

Here is a video.

They bought a used H. Rocket, sold the aircraft engine, then installed a turbo 2-rotor rotary and optimized everything for the time to climb. They were getting about 650hp from the 2-rotor engine block that weighs less than 200lbs.

Note that this new record beats all the records in all classes of internal combustion engine powered aircraft.

Not yet. As discussed in the other thread, it falls short of the outright record at 91.9 seconds held by Lyle Shelton in Rare Bear.
