I was just sent this by a friend and he said it was a real-time lightning map. I looked quick and Im not sure it is up to the exact minute, but can sure give you a good idea of where thunder storms are. At least for planning a route, it could help. It is fun to watch. I need to spend a bit more time on it to see if it is accurate or not.

It is a little like watching grass grow at first but gets addictive and you start to try and anticipate the next lightening strike. There goes my productivity at work this afternoon.

That's pretty cool. Now I can't wait for the next thunderstorm here.

We are having lightning in East Lansing and I saw a flash out the window and within about 5-8, seconds, I saw it on the map. That was pretty cool.

Edit - After looking at the map, I believe the strike shown on the map is the same one I saw, but I really have no way of knowing for sure. There have been several other strikes I have seen and then strikes show up on the map, but it is very hard to tell where the strike is coming from when all you see is the flash. Use for fun - use real weather for flight planning.
