I struggled with the typical non specific coax tools and was looking for more. I saw this tool on a builders website (Sorry don't remember who) and bought via Amazon for ~$17 plus shipping.
The good news is that after a little modification it makes the perfect cuts on RG400 for an AMP - BNC connector. It has adjustments for each blade. The adjustment to cut the sheath, but not the outer ground braid, would not back out enough. I conclude that is because it is not made for RG400. I removed the blade and trimmed down the top with a Dremel disc and it now works perfectly. The tool even comes with an allen wrench that snaps into the handle for adjustments!
It cuts what is needed and does not score the next layer.
If you know of a tool that will do this for $17 and not need modification please let folks know.
