How EAA Chapter 1494 is trying to promote Sport Aviation in East TN.

A few weeks ago a couple of us members of Chapter 1494 decided to try to promote our chapter, our airport and most of all Sport Aviation. We decided to try a Facebook page devoted to our chapter and so far it has been a big hit.

I know tons of folks don't like Facebook but it does have a wide reach when it comes to promotion.

Take a look at our page and like us if you want to keep up with our efforts to keep Sport Aviation alive!

PS...Most of our members are RV owners or builders so the majority of the content has an RV theme to it. You also do not have to be a Facebook member to view the page.

So far we have reached over 22,765 people and have 74 page likes.
We have been covered in many local newspapers and have been featured in a spot on a Knoxville market NBC affiliate TV news program. Last weekend we were interviewed for a future full page newspaper article focused on folks that are crazy enough to build and fly their own airplanes. We had four local RV builders interviewed.

We also embedded our FaceBook news feed into the front page of our EAA Chapter website so we don't have to do double duty keeping both outlets updated.

Great idea

Brian, great idea our chapter may use. I'm not a big FB fan but it does get the word out.

Now, where are the baked beans in those photos of the hangar party:D
