Instrument panel alloy

Which aluminum is acceptable or appropriate for a small piece of instrument panel 6" x 10" supporting 2 standard round gauges?

Someone gave me a piece the thickness I needed (0.100") but it was so soft the slightest handling of it seriously deformed it. (I suspect it was annealed 1001 or 3003.)

Anyway, would ordinary 2024-T6 work?
How about these other 0.100" options from McMaster:
3003-H14 too soft?
They also have 5052-H32 and 6061-T6.

2024-T3 is the standard for about everything, 6061-T6 is second best. For your purpose, whatever you have laying around will work except the 1100-0, which is a non alloy pure aluminum..super soft.

check for a local "Metal Supermarkets" they have most all that stuff in stock. I have one about 10min from my house in Plano, comes in very handy.

Vans standard panel is .063? thick 2024-T3, which would be adequate for a sub panel as well.
2024-T3 is easy to work, not gummy like 6061 alloy and has higher bending strength, which is the important characteristic for this modification.
