Well, I finally made it. On Nov 7, 2009 at about 9am MST, I got the thumbs up from my instructor for a few laps around the pattern all by myself. The Diamond DA-40 is a great little airplane and a joy to fly. Still, I wish I were back in the T-34C that I started in. The first two, of three solo landings, weren't that great, but I greased the last just like I wanted to. Altitude control isn't exactly where I want it to be yet, but it is getting easier. Its amazing how far off you can get when you are concentrating on getting the 'Before Landing' checklist accomplished.

I just thought I'd share. Thanks go to all of you for the inspiration I've received to get my ratings and then join the ranks of the RV builder

Awesome!, you'll never forget the day. Keep it up, master the rudder and keep your eyes outside the plane.

Congrats!

Bet that little bird climbs a little better without an instructor on board!
