So, two months ago I pulled my cylinders to upgrade my pistons to higher compression pistons. The plan was just swap in some 8.5:1 pistons, hone the cylinders, and reassemble.
Fate had other plans, and after discovering some came wear and corrosion and a crack in a cylinder, the cylinders got swapped, I got a new cam, and I am going with 9:1 pistons. The crank was sent out and inspected and honed for reinstallation.
The engine shop guys have been absolutely great to work with. I’m hoping they get assembled this week and get it back on the airplane and in the air soon! I’ve flown my dads 182 a couple of times in between, but I’m ready to get my bird back in the air!
