Rocket Paint Weight

I have heard a range of paint weight from 5# to 50#, so was curious to find what mine weighed. I had the "before" weight and so after the paint was on I weighed it again. Gain - 35#.

Now I know.

Painted by a professional aircraft painting shop in Canada using primarily Sherwin Williams Acry Glo.

Oddly, my airplane weighed only 15 lbs more with paint and some interior work.

Of course, the original scales were mechanical platform scales and the reweigh was electronic scales, so there was probably sime error from this.

My empty weight is now 1266 lbs. What's yours?

I am at 1387, a bit of a fatty I know. I've got a Hartzell CS, plenum, firewall insulation, full panel, autopilot, two built in cameras, extra heavy roll bar, ............ The EVO wing adds 100# all by itself! Gross weight of the EVO ship is 2100#.

The before and after weights were on the same set of scales; I have had the scales checked by a certified scale shop who said they were accurate within a pound.
