Last week we published four Service Letters for the RV-12iS, two of which also apply to the RV-12.

This caught my eye. How do I add a G5? and where would one add one?

nice catch. I totally missed that.

Since its only being added to the 136' harness, it would seem that the factory is getting ready for the day the ASTM allows for IMC operations. The only place you could realistically mount a G5 without reworking the entire panel is over on the copilot side where the panel PTT button is..

Seems like an easy retrofit.. apparently all you need is power, and either a dedicated gps antenna or a couple of RS232 wires from the GTN650.

Now for someone to invent a way to use engine heat as pitot heat ...
