Could have brought my ice auger

Grandpa would probably say that’s just a little fast....

Not mine... He always said that the bigger fish swam faster and those are the one's he wanted to catch. When I was 5, this logic was spot on. He always ran around with that 5hp Johnson running wide open

Grandpa would probably recognize this ?lake? taken after departure from sky harbor, not the one in PHX

Love the lake - I spent my college years as a diving charter master on the north shore! Nothing like challenging the gales of November (or September) in a nineteen foot Zodiac!

That would be Pelican Lake, the one South of Detroit Lakes, it?s long and narrow and fun to drop down low. My folks live on Lake Ida near Alexandria, so most of my flights are between here and there.

I keep my plane for part of the summer at Henning. We'll have to touch base next summer. Perhaps we met at their fly-in?

Pelican Lake - I think the place on the south shore towards the east end is one the largest lake places in the state. Truly absurd. I have often taken passengers over that place.

That place was off my right wing when I took the photo off my left wing! The Owner of that crib is former Owner of Sun Country Airlines. There is over a half million in docks and boats/lifts! There is a 2’-3’ ice ridge forming from his point to the opposite shore. I taxied around there in a friends C-185 Amphib last summer, nice spot. There are a handful of similarily impressive lake homes in the area. One on the far West end of Pelican caught my eye a few weeks ago...

In my Chrome browser on a PC, all of Derek's pictures are rotated 90 degrees. Do others see this also? They're fine when viewed on Chrome on an ipad.

It depends on whether the browser uses the camera orientation meta data stored in the EXIF in the image file.

These are the first pictures in over 10 years I've seen on VAF that were oriented wrong. I don't plan to rewrite Chrome's code...
