Another question on Lycoming oil sump

I have a friend who has a IO360 on a Cardinal. It was STC d up from a 0320 at some time prior to his ownership. Also the plane has had a prop strike in its history and got a new motor mount along with other parts but been back airworthy for some time now. Question is : the oil screen on this IO360 is where you would think it would be ( at the rear of the pan and removes horizontally). However on this arrangement you can't get the plug out to clean the screen due to a nose gear and or mount obstruction. Anyone with Cardinal experience or IO360 exp that has seen this or possibly target where the mismatch is. Engine Mount, dash engine model or possibly different oil sump pan? It appears that the structure has now conflicted and caused the sump to leak!
