RV 8 the 'Borrowed Horse' took Carol and I to Sun n Fun and on to Key West.

Arrived Lakeland KLAL April 21, Tuesday after a weather stop in Destin Ft Walton Beach. Nice stop ,,,walk to hotels and food.

I recommend Home Built Camping! We were treated like royalty.

Sunday we flew to Key West for a visit, stayed in a B&B. Used public bus service to get around, very easy and $.50 a ride. Can't beat that.

4 nights in Key West,,,,, and time to go back to work. Oh ,, time off is so short when you are having fun. Made the trip home in one day with a lunch stop at Cross City, Fl. Good place to stop, car, cheap gas, very nice airport Manager. Don.

A few stats if you want them.

Great to hear stories like this. Purchasing a 7 and looking forward to going farther and faster than we ever did in our 105k cessna. Will be looking for posts like this to learn from others who have already been there. Not sure what you meant by the home built camping, but one of our concerns is how much can you really take along with you in an rv ,eg camping supplies, etc. Also learning how to get around once you get there, courtesy cars, rental, public transportation.
Thanks!

Homebuilt Camping is a designated area at both SnF and Osh. Lots of good people to be found in those areas.

As far as how much you can take along, we generally take 80-110 lbs of cargo in the RV-6 on an Oshkosh trip. That with two souls on board who probably weigh 360 lb combined. FYI, to get that much luggage/cargo in the RV-6 requires placing some of the heavier items in the front floorboards, right in front of the spar and under our knees.
