MGL i-Box question

Hello,

I'm not sure if I interpret correctly manual in this section - connection of resistor on CAN connector.

My configuration:
- 5ft CAN cable to RDAC,
- to be in line with manual I plan one 120 ohm resistor,
- in manual I got information "if single resistor used connect this close to
CAN connector...."

Does it mean close to i-Box on CAN connector or close to RDAC on CAN
connector? Probably close to i-Box but I'm nor sure.

Thank you,
Witold

The CAN termination resistors are fairly uncritical in a typical MGL installation. The norm states that you should wire the CAN as a bus (with a start and an end and users connected via short stubs to the bus) - and then place a 120 ohm resistor across the two wires at each end of the bus.

Now, with our typical fairly short connections this is not really needed - I find the CAN bus works very well with a single 100 ohm resistor placed anywhere across the two wires.

It will not work without a resistor (you may get it to work but do not be fooled - it is not going to work reliably).
