Hello all,
I've been lurking on the site for a while now but finally felt like it was time to actually make my first real post!
I purchased a once-flying RV-4 about 8 months ago and put it into the shop while I left town for work. I should be coming home next week and it should (hopefully ) finally be finished and ready to fly!
I bought it from a fella in TX and it had a hard landing that wrinkled the firewall and sheared the engine mount...
so....
...we got to work to take the wings and elevator off and load it up to move it from TX to KS (I mostly handled logistics of getting the uHaul and 'overseeing' while the more mechanically minded did their things)...
These pictures are from a while back but they started tearing into it and got the long legs ordered to put on instead of the short legs
I figured if they had everything taken apart might as well change out some avionics while we're at it, right?
So, here is where I left it off before I left on this most recent multi-month work outing.
Basically since we have tore the wings off and I dropped it off at the shop to have them start working on it a total of, approximately, 8-9 months have elapsed but I've been gone basically 5-6 of those months for work. It was a lot of work on everything in the plane! Those guys absolutely had their job cut out for them. Hoping it is finally finished up by the time I get back!
Sorry I don't have the chops to build one of these (yet). But maybe I can if I start actually spending more time at home - or if they start making a backcountry vans .
Well, thanks for reading! It's good to finally be here!
