Hurricane Michael check in

Here in the Upstate of South Carolina it is raining hard with winds at ~20 MPH, gusting to 30.

Enough water to saturate the ground and then have trees blown over by the winds.

The storm keeps changing tracks so our forecast is improving up here.

Week on the beach

We flew the RV6A to 2R4 last Tue. planned on coming home this Tue. Very fortuitous choice of days. Thanks to Michael, we had a 20 knot tailwind, or more, all the way home.
We left the hotel at 0500 to try to beat the rush out of town. No traffic to speak of. Turns out, most of the tourists left on Mon and no one came down to replace them. and the locals pretty much poo-poohed the little storm, till later and it was forecast become a CAT 3, and then CAT 4.
If we had flown into DTS (40 miles closer) it would have been $150-$200 more for fuel and parking. 2R4 fuel was $4/gal and parking was $5/nt, first 3 nights free.

Nice beaches.

Dewey,

Is yours the one that was tied down right outside the AMS mx hangar? White and blue I believe? We keep our planes at Milton and live in Navarre. Always fun to meet other VAF members. Give us a shout next time you’re in town.

I have some friends that spent the day at the airport which is 82 miles away from where the storm hit and the wind wasn’t bad at all. A few gust over 20 but all in all we came out ok.

tie down

Shane;
Yes. That was us. Had a good time doing nothing on the beach. Hadn't been in Destin in 30+ years. Did not recognize anything.
