Rudder Bottom Fairing

Well Known Member
I was installing the R-911 rudder bottom fairing today and expected it to be fastened by CS4-4 blind rivets as it was on the RV-7A. The plans, however, call for nut plates and -6 screws. I would prefer to use the blind rivets and make the installation permanent. Is there anything different about the RV-14 which would make it necessary to have the fairing removable?

Customer preference.

It is one of the most commonly damaged parts on the airplane. As a result, a lot of past builders have chosen to install it with screws, so that was standardized for the 14 kit.
