Default Cowling hinge and shim position

On page 29-08 the cowling hinge and shim are match drilled to the firewall and subsequently countersunk and dimpled. Never do the instructions tell you to dimple the firewall flanges unless I just missed that somewhere. So when installing the hinge and shim on page 29-13 you must dimple the firewall tabs if the layup sequence of skin, firewall tab, shim and hinge as shown in drawing on page 29-08 are to fit together properly.

I noticed on a few builder sites they assembled the layers from outside in as skin, shim, hinge and firewall tab so that everything fits together without dimpling the tabs.

I'm just wondering for those who have passed this step how you did it.

Do a search on 'firewall flange' in the 14 group. Dimple flange after the hinge and shim have been fitted.
