RE: APRS Wisdom

I have read all the threads on aprs and as usual need some extra tender loving info from you APRS guru's.

My shopping list is: 1. Micro-Trak 8000FA 2. GPS2 or GPS3 ??? 3. Antenna per Sams instructions 4. computer to trak cable via Sam's instructions. 5. Micro-Volt 12..............

Now for the ????????????????????

1. If you were to do your install today would you do it differently and if so how!

2. Best place to get power to the system....Lights/Dedicated/other?

3. GPS placement and which would creat a more clean install GPS2 or GPS3

4. Antenna placement.......

Thanks for any advice

Frank,

APRS just got a lot easier. :)

Take a look at this thread:

http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=54766

And this link:

http://www.byonics.com/microtrak/mt-rtg.php

This preprogrammed tracker has everything you need in the bundle. Try using the antenna in the bundle--you can go with a different antenna later if necessary.

Plug-n-Play aviation aprs is here!

Happy trackin',

RE: Thanks and ............

Hi Sam

Thanks for the info and ..... I will look forward to your review of the new all in one bundle TRAK ....

I do like the idea of the all in one but I would be interested in the 8000FA to be able to have the lights...programming .... and other wizzzies!!!!

Frank @ 1L8 ...RV7A ... flying with no track:(

Just finished flying the MT-RTG, it works great, and review should be published this evening.

The RTG has a dual-status LED, and is fully programmable. There is no reason why you shouldn't have one. ;)
