Jim Cantore's lot are flying a drone in Ft Myers as we speak....

TWC coverage has been extremely good indeed.

Nearly midnight here and I can't stop watching, thankfully it looks less severe than first thought.

Let's go. Sounds like a coupla downed palm trees, maybe a few cranes spinning in the breeze. A bit of water splashed out of the canals. What's the big deal?

Oh wait, that's like, oh, 12 hours of flying from the west coast. At least there won't be any forest fire smoke...

Seriously, my thoughts go out to anyone injured by that storm.

Yea, I flew today, could not resist it...nice day, little bumpy but nice day.

Pressure dropped though, Irma is sucking more than water as it moves north.

Hope all is well for those who stuck it out, does look like the system is loosing some punch and may be headed NE over Florida instead of N and W along west coast.

But it has been on wig wag path all day...and not moving much at all. Sanibel, a favorite spot is getting some hefty wind, hope Dr Ford has not blown down.

Getting some 70mph gusts here in Clearwater, supposed to arrive as a cat 1 early this AM. That's much better than the 2 or 3 they had been saying earlier. On generator power here at the fire station.

Update from Clearwater - we fared pretty well. Trees and wires down and some damage to mobile homes. Planes in hangars should be fine, and word from a friend in Zephyrhills says airport there looks good as well.
