Regardless of what the manufacturer of an ELT's documentation says,
FAR 91.207
is the regulation that is the primary requirement that stipulates what has to be done with an ELT during a condition inspection (in reality, it just has to be done every 12 months so it could be done at a totally different time from the condition inspection, but doing it then is the most practical)

The AIM also has some guidance regarding completing the required yearly ELT tests.

Default AKC E-04 self test?

So I performed my 3-month functional test today on my AKC E-04 and got a beep code that wasn't in the manual. After pressing the test button (at just after the hour), I heard the three sweeps on 121.5 and, on the little speaker, I got three beeps, a two second delay, and then one beep. Three beeps signifies "low RF output", but it wasn't repeated as it would have been had it been a real malfunction. The one beep signifies "system check OK" so I'm thinking this is a bug in their software. My battery is less than a year old. The ACK website offers no help. Anybody?
