KLX-135A Database Installation

Anyone have any luck updating the KLN-135A database from a floppy?

Trying to help a friend. Tried three (3) different computers and have been unable to get any of them to boot correctly from a floppy. Can get the computer to start booting from the floppy but the KLN-135A installer does not get completely loaded before the computer freezes or locks up.

Staring to wonder if it is the newer 64-bit computers having an issue with a 16-bit program for the older 90's hardware.

I'll be interested in what you find -- I need to do the same thing over the next couple of months.

I downloaded the updating tool to a Windows XP machine, then downloaded the database update. Off-line plugged the computer into the 135 in the aeroplane and fired up the updater. It did take a while to transfer the data to the 135A, but all worked as advertised. Why do you need to use a floppy?
