I mounted my GMU in the tail. Ran the strobe in shielded cable including the ground return. The wire shield only acts as a shield not a ground return for the strobe. I also ran the stobe sync in a shielded wire. Also did not put any antenas or any other electronic in the tail. I ran the stobe wires in the bottom of the tail with the GMU on top. Trying to keep them as far apart as possible.
Not sure how I would have done this in the wing. The landing lights are higher current and there was not a shielded cable option for these wires.

While the ground return in the shield is preferred, a close second is twisting the power wire with the return ground wire (i.e. twisted pair). The key is having the power and ground wires in very close proximity to cancel out the electro-magnetic force.
