I ordered a new C-656 canopy handle from Vans, after having a technical issue with the tap bit breaking inside the handle.
Upon receiving the new handle, I noticed it's not squared off anymore. Rather the new handle is rounded and CnC crafted (looks nice) and has a pilot hole for drilling.
This is where my troubles begin with the new handle. Did the screw that attached the handle change? Counter sinking this beautiful handle to fit the screw will look horrible. Or did the assembly instructions change?

Edit. Problem solved. no changes in assembly, part is now CnC'ed for the rv-12 people (per Vans).
