Dynon encoder

I have a D10A with a encoder.
With the encoder can I get rid of my Ameri-king altitude encoder that goes to the Transponder???
Does this little guy take it's place.
I have a KT-76A transponder.

Thanks,
Aden

Yes. I believe that transponder only takes gray code input though so you'll need Dynon's serial to gray code converter.

I use my D10a as my encoder for my GTX320A and my GX-50 and it works great.

Jamie is correct, the KT76A only accepts gillham code so you would need the Dynon converter. If you already have the AK encoder installed you would not be gaining anything by switching to the D10A as your encoder.

And depending on who does your transponder checks, you could run into a problem as the Dynon does not carry a TSO while the AK does.

On the flip side, the nice thing about using the D10A as the encoder is that your "displayed" (29.92 ref) altitude will always match your encoder altitude so "the shop" would never have to adjust the encoder to match your altimeter (ref CFR 91.217).
