Airbox filter problems

Anyone seen this problem or have a suggestion for a fix?

200 hours on my 7a and the KN air filter gets crunched. I suspect from suction pulling down.

See pictures of my airbox which I redesigned during construction for some reason. Sorry I cant get the image to post here directly.

At about 250 hours TSN I have the exact same situation on my RV-8A (horizontal induction, snorkel). Today I installed a new K&N filter element after using a bandsaw to round the corners on the forward edge in an attempt to keep the filter from being over-compessed by a sheet metal "keeper" over that edge. We'll see . . .

Nope. Its from a hot start intake backfire. Practice your hot start technique until that is not an issue and then replace the filter if the crease bothers you.

I popped one like this too, at under 200 hrs.

Got a new filter. Been OK since then.
Gave the old filter to another builder that was working on the snorkel so he could keep his new one clean.
