Yep, did good. It happened to me, solid soup flying parallel to a stationary front. Darkness to right, lighter to the left. By brain kept saying that turning left was horizontal, so I leaned my head 15-20 deg to the left, and my flight instructor got a good laugh.

It happens to gymnasts too. The Beijing olympics had the gymnastics balance beam on the edge of a large dome. The center of the arena was well illuminated, but not the perimeter. 2 of 3 fell off the beam, always to the light side. The commentators were puzzled.
