ADHARS Attach Hardware

I was advised and subsequently purchased the following non-magnetic items to attach the Dynon ADHARS through 3/16" holes:

MS35214-55 Panhead Screw
MS21044D3 Alloy Nylock Stiffnut
NAS1149B0332H Washer

The nut is very, very tight. Can't imagine wanting to remove these when it comes to, perhaps, having to level the ADHARS with shims/washers anytime in the future. Is there a better combination to achieve the same result? Thanks in advance.

Go to your local aircraft supply house (e.g. Ace Hardware) and get the SS fasteners you need. Just run a magnet over them first to make sure.

i use nylon screws and nuts from that same ace aviation dept.

Dynon does not recommend the use of stainless, according to the install manual. They also, somewhere in there, warn of using a magnet to test for ferrous metal as it will then possibly magnetize said metal. Certainly okay, in this case, if you don't use the screw that you test.

Brass, as you plan to use, is what they recommend but nylon sounds like a good alternative. Try running the nut onto steel screw before installing on the brass screw.

Stainless steel mounting hardware is not always non-magnetic, and thus is not recommended. The best type of mounting hardware (screws, bolts, washers, AND nuts) to install the SV-ADAHRS-200/201 (if SV-MAG-236 is not installed) is brass. If SV-MAG-236 is installed, then type of mounting hardware used for the SV-ADAHRS-200/201 is not critical.
If you use a magnet to test whether possible interfering materials are non-magnetic, do not actually touch the magnet to the material you are testing, as this contact can cause the material you are testing to become magnetized
