Re: Creaking nose gear
I suspect I am not the first rv-7a to have a loose/creaking nose gear leg.
I have read all the threads on how to solve this Van's created problem (5/16" drill vs reamer on top gear leg mounting bolt!!) .
Has anyone thought of or tried drilling and tapping the lower ngl socket for a set screw. Maybe even two set screws, one at 3 and one at 9 oclock on the motor mount/nose gear leg socket, lower.
I am concerned that just putting in a close tolerance bolt at the top socket may not be enough. Need some of the torquing moment of the nose gear leg to be taken up by the lower bearing surface, not just the upper.
