I am getting ready to to an upgrade on my flying 7A. I am installing a new Hartzell composite prop with G hub , io-390 and new standard vans cowl for the horizontal induction.
So as I understand it, the new cowl is fitted using the spinner backplate as reference. I understand the aluminum spinner (with G hub) has fore and aft adjustment using washers and spacers. Where should I initially set the spinner to set the cowl installation? I want to avoid setting the cowl too far forward for potentially hitting the prop, or too far aft as I don't know if there are any other clearance issues such as the snorkel clearing the cowl. Does this make sense?
