ADS-B in question

Im looking at getting ADS-B in. Looking at Garmin because I have an Aerea 660 portable gps. My question is what is the difference between the GDL 39 vs the GDL 52 I know the 52 is capable of Siriusxm which I'm not interested in any help? Thanks in advance. Jerry

Hello Jerry,

If you are not interested in SXM weather/music, then the GDL 50/50R is the best comparison to the GDL 39. Both will work great with your Aera 660.

We don't offer the GDL 39 3D anymore, because the GDL 50 totally replaces that capability and includes an internal backup battery which was optional on the GDL 39 3D.

Additionally, the GDL 50 supports a second RS-232 port so you can have two hardwired displays in addition to two displays connected via Bluetooth.

For those that might want a GDL 52 (just in case you ever want SXM music/weather), now would be a good time to get one since there is a $200 Garmin rebate (through Sept. 28, 2019) in addition to the normal $200 SXM rebate.
