Odd New Symbol on G3X Moving Map Screen

A new symbol popped up on my G3X moving map yesterday that I had never seen before.

It seemed to be centered on the airplane icon. It disappeared after landing.

I didn't think to capture a screen shot so a made a rough drawing of what I remember. Does anyone know what this means?

That is the glide range ring. If it is round, your right on best glide speed. If you deviate from best glide speed it starts to look like what you show above.

Page 133 of the Rev J manual should be where you can find the info on it.

It has been a feature for a while now.

Mike Huff, Field Service Engineer, at Garmin just sent me an email describing the same thing. Don't know why I've never seen it before but a number of my settings have changed since I installed software version 5.9.

Guess I need to go back and read the Pilot's Guide again!

Jon's definition of that symbol also goes well with his on-screen CAS warning of, uh, "low beverage level".
