I'm considering the Artex 1000 ELT and wondering if anyone has installed this unit in their RV8?
The "whip antenna" that comes with this ELT is considerably shorter than other 406/121.5 ELT's...., the Artex 1000 whip antenna measures only 15 inches in length.
For an RV8, ELT antenna location is truly a compromise. However, a shorter length whip antenna has installation advantages. For the RV8, a popular ELT antenna location is on the right-side canopy rail (between the seats). The Artex 1000 whip antenna, being 6 to 9 inches shorter than most other ELT whip antennas, might fit better in the RV8(?)
